Super Bowl

I just watched the Super Bowl. Well done New Orleans.

Yet something happened yesterday far more important than what just took place in Miami. Allie, our granddaughter, had her birthday... she is one!! Our house was full of family, friends, toys, cake, wrapping paper, and... love!! She walked around our living room unaware that all the fuss and excitement was for her. The gifts were hers... She was the center of attention and affection, yet because she's only one her little mind couldn't take it all in. There were kids here that are a little older, who had much more fun with the gifts brought for her! But Allie got more of a kick out of a musical birthday card that played a song she recognized from her favorite kiddies show! She sat on my knee and danced up and down opening and closing the card to start the music again and again.

As I held Allie in my arms, I thought of how many times our heavenly Father prepares blessings for us, His kids, and we get distracted by some tinsel or song and miss the real reason for the celebration... or someone else walks away with what God has prepared for us!!
