Gods Love is New Every Morning

I have just come home from Baton Rouge, LA. I've been gone for over a week, and a lot has happened since I've been gone. Our water heater burst in the upstairs of our house and ruined the ceilings and flooring in a large part of our house. I think I'm living in an airport now as a company has come in and installed a dozen fans roaring in all corners of our house, trying to dry the place out.

When I arrived home tonight, though, it wasn't the damaged ceilings I was interested in or the whirring fans. There was a 12 month old little girl wearing only a diaper (as she had just emerged from her bath). When she saw me, she lifted both hands towards me and, no one can tell me differently, said, "Granda." She wanders around my house oblivious to most things that go on. She understands some words, and apart from "Ayee,"(her pronunciation of her own name, Allie) "woof woof," and "granda" can't even speak. But somewhere in her little heart there is a sure knowledge that she is loved. Everyone exists for her. She appears, and intelligent conversation stops. She stands up and every eye is on her, watching, protecting. She has NO idea that our entire world has changed, has been tailored just for her. My house is full of toys, high chairs, even a crib taken all the way over from Scotland for when her mom and dad lets her spend the night with us. Allie is loved.

You never stand up without His eyes watching you. You never speak without Him hearing. He has proven Himself time and time again.

So for every one that reads this blog, you must agree... Jesus never fails. He rearranged the universe to count us in. And yet we wander through life largely unaware, as little Allie... that His love is forever upon us.

I woke up early this morning with this thought in my mind, "Gods love is new every morning." So my dear friend, you may not always be aware of it, but rest assured... you are loved.

Pussy Cat, Pussy Cat

Pussy cat, pussy cat,
Where have you been,
I've been to London,
To see the Queen,
Pussy cat, pussy cat,
What saw you there?
I saw a little mouse,
Run under her chair!

This poem was written to celebrate the coronation of Queen Victoria... The British Empire was at it's zenith and ruled a large part of the world. This event was huge, every important person from Kings to presidents, prime ministers, sultans was there... Everyone who was anyone sat in the adoring crowd as the young girl became Queen. Her shoes were woven from golden strands.. Her gown was of the finest silk embroidered with jewels and pearls.. The crown was and is today.. Priceless... yet in the midst of all the pomp and ceremony sat the cat... Looking at at a mouse that had run under her... Throne!!

Get it? We can miss the big picture.. The important things of our life can be lost because our small petty vision is caught up with unimportant stuff!! The cat was doing what cats... do looking for mice! Let God change our nature so that our instinct is to see what is important, not the little things that will distract us from the great!!

Loaves and fishes

The young boy sat crossed legged at the front of the huge crowd. He had worked his way to the front as only a kid could do. Like any other kid, he wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Earlier that day, his mom had given him a pack lunch and sent him away to see the man that was causing so much stir as he went around the countryside preaching and healing the sick.

He was getting hungry. It was time to eat. He was unaware of the crisis unfolding a few feet away. Jesus had just told his disciples to feed the crowd that had followed him to this remote place. He untied the corners of the cloth and smoothed it out on the grass... There were five small barley loaves and two small fish. The loaves were the poor man's bread, rough and hard.. The fish were small and bony. Just as the lad was about to eat the most famous meal of all time -- a meal that would build a million churches... countless hospitals ... orphanages in every corner of the world... the meal that would be prayed about over millions of offerings to God : "multiply these gifts as you did the loaves and fishes" -- Andrew stopped him. Instantly, he became part of a miracle we still speak of today. DON'T eat what is destined to be multiplied!! If he had eaten his little meal, he and his mom would have been the only people alive who would have known about the loaves and fishes!! Let me ask you a question: How many meals have you eaten that God had planned to multiply?

The Doldrums

Long ago, before the invention of steam or internal combustion engines, ships relied on sail. To think that these tiny vessels without modern navigation could go around the world and return to home is incredible. They faced storms, famine, and mutiny, but the thing they feared the most was... the doldrums!

Doldrums were the terrifying state when all wind died, the sails lay dormant, and all souls were at the mercy of the tide. Days, even weeks could pass, when restive men eating through precious supplies could do nothing but wait.

Ever been there? Stuck, still, drifting with whatever tide would grab you. Wasting time... Wasting life. I've been there, and it's no fun!

I was talking about this to a friend of mine the other day, and I felt such a stirring in my heart to tell you that it's time for the wind of purpose to blow again in your heart! You are not designed to waste in trackless oceans of indecision, but to fly across your circumstance toward your goal!! Listen... Is that a breeze I hear?

Super Bowl

I just watched the Super Bowl. Well done New Orleans.

Yet something happened yesterday far more important than what just took place in Miami. Allie, our granddaughter, had her birthday... she is one!! Our house was full of family, friends, toys, cake, wrapping paper, and... love!! She walked around our living room unaware that all the fuss and excitement was for her. The gifts were hers... She was the center of attention and affection, yet because she's only one her little mind couldn't take it all in. There were kids here that are a little older, who had much more fun with the gifts brought for her! But Allie got more of a kick out of a musical birthday card that played a song she recognized from her favorite kiddies show! She sat on my knee and danced up and down opening and closing the card to start the music again and again.

As I held Allie in my arms, I thought of how many times our heavenly Father prepares blessings for us, His kids, and we get distracted by some tinsel or song and miss the real reason for the celebration... or someone else walks away with what God has prepared for us!!

DON'T LOSE THE MOMENT GOD HAS MADE JUST FOR YOU!!
